11 yr old Parakeet excreted tissue before dying

by Steve
(Eureka, Il)

My mother had a blue cheeked parakeet for 11 years. It recently died, and she told me it had passed a fleshlike tissue of sorts before it died. We know the bird was old, but were concerned as to what that may be? Thank you.

Bird died - passed tissue
by: The Avian Vet

This is not enough information to diagnose the tissue or cause of death. However, it is common for birds to prolapse tissue through the cloaca. Typically it is reproductive organs such as the vagina or oviduct. However the cloaca and other intestinal tissue can prolapse.
