2 1/2 month old parakeet flying funny all of a sudden

If your bird's wing feathers are coming back in, this could cause some imbalance especially if one wing has new feathers and the other doesn't yet.

I recommend you keep his wings clipped because of safety concerns. Have ONLY the 4-6 Primary Flight feathers trimmed which are the long ones at the ends of each wing. To cut up higher causes chronic pain, and birds drop like a rock and can be injured from hitting so hard. Only have an Avian Vet's staff clip your bird's wings unless you are experienced with this because new feathers are called blood feathers, and bird can bleed out from one of them being damaged or clipped while blood is still in the feathers. Blood feathers are the ones where shafts are still purple because they have blood in them. Feathers okay to cut have white or clear shafts meaning blood has left them, and they are safe to cut.

If you've noticed any symptoms of being ill like not eating the same, behavior has changed, droppings are runny or stick to the vent feathers or lack of energy, then have your bird examined by an Avian Vet only. We recommend yearly checkups to catch problems before birds are so sick they are near death. Much easier to get them diagnosed and treated early and save their lives and you a lot of energy, money and time.
