8/9 Week old major mitchell X gala not eating baby food

May I please ask you WHY you are feeding him any seeds at all? He should be eating only baby parrot handfeeding formula using a syringe. I'd say at least a 60cc syringe fed 3-4 times a day. If you are feeding anything else besides a high quality baby parrot handfeeding formula your bird is getting a very bad start and this will show up in a very short time with chronic infections, poor bone development including his beak. Skin and feather development will also be poor plus his immune system will be chronically at risk. Please get the seeds away from him and feed him as a baby parrot should be fed. He is not eating the seeds as he's not old enough to digest them anyway. He also may be ill, so have him checked for infections by an Avian Vet in your area and get a weight on him as well. If he's not eating handfeeding formula, then he may very well be sick and in need of an Avian Vet. Baby birds do not last long with infections as they have no immune system with which to fight them like an older bird. Any bird does not get over infections without diagnosis and treatment by an Avian Vet.

You can find the baby parrot handfeeding formula here or in a local pet store that sells bird supplies. Roudybush is a very good one, and is the only one I've used.

Please take away the seeds altogether because this baby will not be ready for weaning until he is around 6 months old. That does ot mean you have to be feeding him 4X a day until then, as you can cut down on formula as starts to eat a high quality organic pelleted diet like Harrison's Hi Potency found here. Do not wean him onto seeds as this is also a very unwise decision, and you'll then have to convert him to the pellets later. Feed only organic, and Harrisons is Avian Vet endorsed, and is the best. I know because my Amazons have eaten this food for many years, and are happy, healthy and illness is almost unheard of.
