parakeet beak growing too long

Your bird likely has fatty liver disease, but only an in person visit with an avian vet will determine what is wrong and what the best treatment is for the bird.

Please Find an Avian Vet for your bird right away.

Post back what you find out, to help and encourage others to get their birds to an avian vet for similar symptoms.

Typically this is due to birds eating an all seed diet or too many seeds. Your bird should be eating mostly pellets like Harrison's or Roudybush and maybe 30% seeds. Please read our Switching Birds To Pellets article written by an avian vet. But take your bird to an avian vet right away, because it might take a year to get the bird on pellets and your bird will be dead by then.
