Adding Spirulina to food & Sunshine Factor

by Micaela
(Houston, Texas)

I have an Alexandrine Ringneck on Harrison's diet and in addition I use organic red palm oil, Sunshine Factor?

My questions is:
How often can I give the Sunshine Factor?
How often can I give Spirulina?

Can I offer these in some soft mash (sweet potatoes)?

Can I give this same thing to my baby Green Cheek Conure?

Thank you.

No suppliments with Harrison's High Potency pellets
by: The Vet

Daily at the recommended dose. But if you are feeding Harrison's High Potency, your should not supplement with Sunshine Factor.

Spirulina is fine to give daily, but if your bird is on Harrison?s, you do not need to supplement with this. In fact, over supplementation is often worse than deficiency with some nutrients.

Extras in diet
by: Linda

I recommend you ask Harrisons these questions. I feed Harrisons, and they say you need not add any supplements of any kind to avoid an imbalance in the vitamins and minerals.

So, go to http://www.harrisonsbirdfoods.com and ask them about the Spirulina and Sunshine Factor before giving it to the birds.

As for the Sweet Potato, I give baked sweet potato as a treat, and have put meds in it when they need them at the direction of a qualified Avian vet.

So, just run out to Harrison's and ask them about the additions to the diet. They also have an 800 number so you can talk to someone instead of emailing if you wish. They will give you the right advice about this.
