Thin bird

All birds have breast bones that lay vertically on the chest. Feel your bird's chest.. If you can feel this bone sticking out a fair amount, he may be too thin. A healthy weight bird will be bulky with lots of muscle surrounding this bone.

Birds who are sick will get too thin. The breastbone will stick out and can be not only felt easily but seen too.

Please take your bird to be examined by an Avian Vet quickly because a sick bird will die without diagnosis and treatment.

They have bird scales you can purchase that has a perch on the top. Kinda like what they use at the vets to weight your bird. An adult grey will weight about 400-600 grams. Assuming you have a Congo Grey. Or if you have a Timneh Grey 275-400 grams, roughly.

If you are just curious about weight a vet can weight him at an exam. However; if you're looking to weight him regulary, I'd suggest purchasing a an aviary scale.

Please remember, a bird should be seen yearly by an avian vet at least once a year to ensure good health, and to prevent illness.
