care for sick bird
by: Deb

I would also put a lamp above his cage to keep him warm. They love and need to be kept warm when not feeling well. I hope this helps you.

african grey help !"!!
by: Linda

Your bird is sick and must be seen by an Avian Vet in your driving area. What you described is a very bad infection, and he will not get well until he is diagnosed as to what kind of bacteria and given the proper medications.

Do not give him any over the counter meds even those found at a pet store as these are not going to work. Do not give him any home remedies as these will also not work. Sick birds have to be helped by an Avian Vet trained in the care, diagnosis and treatment of bird's ailments.

There is a link on this site for help in finding an Avian Vet, and make sure he's taken to an Avian Vet as regular dog and cat vets are not licensed or trained to care for birds and will misdiagnose him and treat him incorrectly.

Please do not wait any longer to take him to Avian Vet, because once he stops eating all together, he will die shortly thereafter as birds cannot go long without food and water.
