Is there an avian vet in another town? This bird NEEDS to see a vet qualified in avian medicine. This vet you took him to does not know anything about the avian species. Just by him/her giving you stuff to give to your bird can kill it. They are not experienced in this type of medicine.

One of my birds was poisoned by a vet in my area a few years ago, because there is NO avian vet here either, so I contacted an avian vet in another part of my country and they helped a vet here draw blood and sent it away to have tests done. My bird almost died, but with the help of an avian vet and a regular vet that cared enough to take the time and learn, we saved his life. He is a good boy and is doing well now.

See if you can even contact by phone an avian vet qualifed to do this and possibly help a vet in your area to get your bird well again, but don't wait, do it now.

Good luck.

Bird not getting well
by: The Avian Vet

I am happy to provide a consultation with your veterinarian. The cost is $125.00. Your veterinarian will need to contact me, but the bill will go directly to you.

Your bird is sick and the treatments that have been administered thus far are inappropriate and ineffective. Baytril is a good antibiotic, but it is ineffective in the water. Stop the Pollivita immediately as this is not helping and may actually cause problems.

Put your bird in a small hospital cage and cover with a heating pad. Keep the temperature at 90-95F and make sure he eats and drinks. I think you need to seek the help of another veterinarian, and drive there if you can. You should have blood work done as well as cultures and maybe x-rays.
