Macaw cough
by: Anonymous

Hi my bird developed a cough this morning what can I do so it can go away and I also noticed it shaking it's head

Editor's note: If you want people to see and answer, you need to post a question, not an answer here to another question, at Parrot Questions

You will need to Find an Avian Vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.

When a baby shakes his head and flaps his wings he is most likely asking to be handfed, or to be picked up.. Flapping is to be picked up..shaking head is to be fed. He must had just been weaned and still wants a little more. Try soaking pellets, or give it some veggies with your hand till its content. It does not sound like he might be sick at all. I have hand fed greys and they ..well actually all babies ask for food this way.

Did you or the breeder have the bird checked by an avian vet before your brought the bird home, to make sure it was healthy?

If your bird has not been seen by an avian vet, then I suggest you Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird to make sure it does not have an infection or something that is bothering it.
