African Grey Keep Shutting One Eye

Hi, I have a 27 year old African Grey. He's been fine for years but noticed as of late that he has a tendency to close his right eye while keeping his left eye open. He's never done this before so I am a bit worried. I am considering taking him to the vet for a general check up. Has anyone any suggestions??? Please help.

Bird keeping one eye closed

I will NOT discourage you from taking your bird for yearly exams, this is best, but for this particular problem a bath might help.

Provide a shallow dish or put your bird in a deep sink with the water barely running for the bird to bathe. If something is stuck in the eye, it might come out.
