He is tearing up the carpet. Get your bird up off the carpet as this is where birds pick up all kinds of dangerous bacteria that will make them sick. I dont' care how often you clean your carpet, once anyone goes outside and walks back in, it is filthy again. Birds have only gram positive bacteria in their bodies, while we and other animals have gram negative. Gram negative is what causes infections in birds, and you're making it very easy by letting him on floor all the time. If he tries to eat any of the carpet, he will have to have surgery to remove it as birds cannot digest synthetic material.

Birds can also get fleas, mites and other parasites from being in the floor. The floor is not a place for a bird, so please keep him up off the floor.
