african grey parrot gagging

I assume you're feeding high quality baby parrot handfeeding formula because this bird will not be ready to wean for at least 3 more months.

If you are not giving him time to swallow between mouthfulls, then he can be gagging from that. If you know how to handfeed, and he is still gagging, then he's sick and needs to be examined right away by an Avian Vet ONLY in your area.

Baby birds who have been moved around this young can and do develop all kinds of infections, mainly bacterial. Only an Avian Vet can diagnose what kind of infection and prescribe the correct treatment in the correct dosages. Dog and cat vets are not licensed or trained in the care of birds, and a bird this young will die because bird's meds have to be adjusted very carefully because they have no fat on their bodies to take up any over doses. Dog and cat vets do not know how to do this, and many birds are either killed or made worse by them. Always take your birds to an avian vet as they are the only vets trained in the care of birds and other exotic animals.

Do not delay having your bird examined because birds this young do not last long when sick.
