Red around bird's eyes
by: The Avian Vet

This could be an eye infection. OR it could be that the UV light is too close to your bird. This is something that needs to be examined by an avian veterinarian ASAP.

African Grey parrot's eyes are red why?

Lack of energy is one of the first signs of illness, so it is necessary to take your bird to an Avian Vet in your area to be examined for infections both bacterial and viral.

He sounds like he is sick, so please do not delay taking him to an Avian Vet only. Do not take him to a dog and cat vet as they are licensed to look at a bird much less treat them and will do far more harm than good if they do anything at all.

Let us know what avian vet has to say and thanks for writing,
