hi ,im after a bit of advice regarding my african grey babies toe , it points the wrong way , the grey is now 9 weeks old and i have only noticed it over the last week , the grey will let me touch and move the toe without any problems ,

when he perches i can move the toe back into the right position and he is fine , but as soon as he moves from the perch the toe point forwards and the claw sideways , the grey can walk , climb and perch ok without any problem , i am just wandering if it will need any treatment to return to right position or would he be ok in life like it is.

Bird toe problem

He will be OK in life with this. I am sure that surgery could correct it if you decided to go that way.

Good Morning, though I'm not the Avian Vet, this does sound like a good time to take the baby to an Avian Vet to see what they say about this toe. If something needs to be done it would be best to have it done while bird's toe is still pliable.

If Avian Vet has anything to add, they'll also answer your question.

Basically, no one on the internet is going to be able to tell you what has caused this or what to do about it as it's a situation where an in-person Avian Vet will be the only way to know how to proceed.
