Pregnancy owning a bird
by: Tracie

If your bird is not sick or showing signs of illness then I would not be concerned. It is not a good idea to breath the dust, even if there are no infectious agents. The dust can contain mold spores and bacteria that could cause problems even if you were not pregnant.

It is a good idea to take your bird to an avian vet every year for a well checkup anyway. If your bird has never seen an avian vet, then I suggest you take your bird to the vet to make sure your bird is healthy.

I have never known any of my friends have a problem with owning several birds while being pregnant.
