Hand fed African grey parrots
by: Tracie

It would be wonderful if you could just buy a hand fed bird and know it will be what you want it to be, but every bird is different so there just are not any guarantees.

What helps birds NOT become one person birds is having the bird interact with other people often, daily if possible. But, even with doing that it is possible it will become a one person bird.

To help the possibility of the bird enjoying you, I suggest you visit the breeder often and play with the birds that are there. By spending time with the birds, you will have the chance for a bird to pick you, buy not wanting to get off of you.

Once you have your bird, please come back and read the training articles and health articles on our Parrot Training page.

If you are still not sure what bird to get, you might want to do more research starting with our Parrot Species Comparison Chart that has links to individual species pages with even more information. At the bottom of each of the species pages, are links to stories written by owners of that species to give you an idea of what it is like to live with that species.
