Bird's eye shut and not eating
by: The Avian Vet

I cannot give treatment advise without seeing what is wrong with your bird. It could be conjunctivitis, which responds well to antibiotics and steroids. But it could be a scratched cornea, which will get worse with steroids. This could also be a sinusitis or one of many other problems. You need to find a veterinarian that can diagnose this and provide proper treatment.

There is a link on this page for help in finding an Avian Vet for your Uncle's bird.

Find an Avian Vet

Unfortunately, without diagnosis and treatment, this bird will simply die as birds do not get over infections without treatment.

I advise not having birds if there is not an avian vet within driving distance because birds do get sick or injured and will at some time in their lives require the services of an avian vet.
