Baby or 7 year old Amazon for family?

Amazon's live for many years, so age is not important as far as how long it will live with you.

What IS important is if you have researched all can about Amazon parrots. Did you know they may go through a hormonal stage where you can not handle the bird for possibly years? Have seen the damage they can do to people they get upset with? Is the 7 year old Amazon you are considering tame and does it allow you and your family members to hold it?

Amazons are GREAT parrots, I am not trying to discourage you from purchasing one. I just want to make sure you have done your research and know both the positive and the negative things about Amazons.

So, if the 7yr old Amazon is hand tame and you have done your research on Amazons, then I vote for the older bird that probably will have a harder time finding a home.
