Alexandran Age Limit

I have a 19 year old Alexandran Ring Neck Parakeet that I've had since he was about 6 months old, "Cosby". Can anyone tell me what their longevity is?

Hi and thanks for writing. Their lifespans are 35-40 years. At your bird's age, it is a good idea to take him in once a year for a checkup with your Avian Vet. As our bird's age, many physical problems can start very similar to aging humans, dogs, cats and other animals.

Sounds like you've done a wonderful job with him, and it does my heart good to hear stories of birds being able to live longer, happier lives.

Thank You and Bless You for loving and caring for your bird. You'd be surprised how many don't, and those stories are always heartbreaking for all of us.

Have a wonderful, warm and safe Holiday Season with family and friends from Our Family,
