Alexandrine parrot's strange behaviour

I have an alexandrine parrot that frequently displays a strange behaviour. Whilst sitting on his perch he holds one foot up next to his face (like he's holding an invisible phone) and makes the same short ascending noise over and over. He only ever does these two things at the same time and it is always exactly the same.

As he makes the noise he sort of runs his beak over his foot and pretend-nibbles it. He'll do this for ages and will often gradually get louder. He sounds content when he does it (never scared or distressed at all), but we don't know why he does it. Do you have any idea??

Alexandrine parrot's strange behaviour

Well, if his cage is anywhere near a phone where he can watch people pick it up when it rings or call out to talk, he may be actually talking on the phone! Though it may sound silly, this is exactly what it sounds like he is doing.

I used to have a parrot who would do a similar behavior with the foot raised to his mouth. He would hold foot there and mumble into it for long periods of time. Every one in a while, I'd actually pick up a word or two but mostly just chatting to himself.

If he appears to be normal in eating, sleeping and pooping then he may be talking on the foot phone I call it.

Sorry

Sounds to me like he might just be answering his invisible foot phone. It may actually be my fault because I keep calling him from my own invisible foot phone. Sorry for any trouble this may have caused.
