by Miriam
(Portola, CA)

My 33 yr old amazon parrot has been falling from his perch and his feet are clinched together as if he were paralyzed for a few minutes and then he returns to normal, any ideas?

1 yr old B&G falls a lot...
by: J.J

My 13 month old B & G falls from his toys & perches a lot. I've noticed that it is mainly from his rope & chain toys. He falls like a rock to the bottom of his house. Then, bounces back up as if nothing has happen. Do you think he is just losing his footing or is something medically wrong?

Editor's note: Falling like a rock can cause him to break bones. Have him checked by an avian vet.

Amazon having seizures
by: Tracie

Dr B has answered this before, so I will tell you what he suggests.

Your bird is having a seizure. The only way to possibly determine why your bird is having seizures is to take him/her to an avian vet for an in person exam. Often times Dr B finds that parrots that do not eat a healthy pellet diet, like Harrison's

Birds are subject of fatty liver disease and other things when they eat too much seed or unhealthy food. The colored pellets are not good for birds either. Dr B has found they cause MANY problems in birds that simply change to Harrison's and get better.
