Brad and I! - Green Cheek Conure

Brad and I! - Green Cheek Conure

Recently, I was reading in my backyard when I noticed my two labradors barking at something on a telephone wire. Curiously, I went over to check out what they were barking at and I saw a little green parrot, perching on the wire. I ran inside to tell my mother about the bird and she immediately told me that that parrot is not a wild parrot but, someones pet. So I rushed inside to let my two dogs away in the garage and climbed the fence that the bird was near. Suddenly, the bird had direct eye contact to me and swooped down off the wire and landed right on my head. My mom gently grabbed it and we brought it inside, gave it food and water.

I researched the bird and its a Green Cheeked Conure. He was obnoxious at first, it would always land on top of my head at random moments. Also, it would poop on me constantly and bite me all the time. Weeks came by and we posted "found bird" signs around our neighborhood yet no one has called. We've made the sudden decision in keeping the bird since it became very attached to me. Its bad habits vanished (although it still poops on me) and it is a very nice bird. I've decided to name it Brad the Bird, and he loved to cuddle with me when i sit on the couch, it often gives me kisses too! Living with Brad has gave me an unforgettable experience that I still love and enjoy for many years to come!

Missing Maxi
by: Anonymous

Our beloved Green Cheek Maxi died unexpectedly on 9/13. Oh what a fiesty little bird. He would wake him in the mornings to eat breakfast with us, he loved fresh squeezed orange juice. He'd either take a shower with me or sit in the window and sing in the little scruffy voice he had. Honestly that screeching he'd do because he wasn't in the same room with me would drive me nuts at times but we loved him so. One person mentioned how her bird Brad loved to snuggle, that was Maxi's thing as well as kisses, right up to the end. We had him for 4 years and that little bird made a huge impact on our lives. My heart aches still for him and only wish I knew what caused him to die so suddenly.
