antisocial rainbow lorikeet

i bought a rainbow lorikeet about 5 weeks ago from a pet shop who said it was handraised. so far i can't even get the bird to sit on my finger for more than 3 seconds. it doesnt bite, but it won't let anybody near it without freaking out. i've tryed rewarding it with food, but it just runs away as soon as i put my hand out. i have had handraised birds before so i know its not me (i hope). what else can i do?

As you have raised birds before you probably know that what you need is patience, patience, patience. Sounds like this one will need extra encouragement. See this site for training techniques. ( Parrot Training page)

Also, have you taken him to your avian vet for a checkup?
