Any idea why my parrot died? please?

My African Grey Parrot has just died. He was about 15. His name is JoJo.

Sunday afternoon I noticed that he was inflating a sack in his neck on the right hand side of his throat, and he was talking in a slightly more squeaky voice. But he was eating and drinking, and playing normally and taling a normal amount.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday all was fine, no more inflating, eating fine, drinking fine, playing fine.

This morning - dead.

Any ideas?? Thanks

death of African Grey
by: Anonymous

Only way to know is to have taken the deceased bird to a certified avian vet who could have done a necropsy. These are free of charge (here in the USA). This would have given a better answer as to why he died so young. Plus this enables avian vets to obtain viable information that could be a valuable aid in research to help parrots. They do return the bird to the owner in a highly respectable manner. I have a Grey too & the thought would bother me to do this but would offer closure instead of never knowing why. My heart goes out to you. Losing a fid is truly heartbreaking.

Bird suddenly died

Eeeks, no I have no idea. (hugs) A theory would be he ingested something besides food, like a toy piece. If your bird was allowed outside the cage, it could have swallowed something that lodged inside his intestines or something.
