My husband and i adopted Archie, the yellow naped amazon in June of 2008. My husband had never had a bird and had declared that he hated birds finally i broke him down down and he agreed to let me have one. So on my way i went we looked at pet store after pet store we also went to many breeders finally one day i was browsing online and came across a gorgeous yellow naped. Well i fired off an email i got the information that Archie didn't like the womans children she had tried and tried and thought it would only be fair to give her up for adoption. I was so giddy the day we went to pick her up i didn't sleep the night before. We had arrived i jumped out of the car to look at my new companion. She was even better than the woman had told us she talked away got up on my shoulder any stayed there. lol you couldn't have pried her off for anything. we got her home took her to the vet everything checked out. I remember the first bath I gave her she thought it was funny to get all wet then come over to the edge of the cage and shake all over me of course it made me laugh . The amazing thing about Archie is she has help me so much over the past few months. She is my buddy in everything that I do even when my husband works long hours shes right by my side loving on me and talking to me. I was amazed when i found out that she was 18 just like me ! Archie is our child she won my husband over the first week now even he says he couldn't imagine life with out here I'm so glad she found her forever home with us I couldn't have been luckier to have found such a wonderful companion and friend !!!! Archie is such a delight she loves to sit in the window and sing she can be a bit loud at times but its never to loud lol she loves sing happy birth day and jingle bells she has a huge vocabulary. We love our little feathered child shes by far the best pet/companion i have ever had (-:
