Are Male Maximillion Pionus more Aggressive then The Females

I have put a deposit down on a baby Maxi. I am having it DNA Sexed. I am trying to decide if I want a Female or Male. So I am wondering about Aggression. I am want a bird that is not aggressive. I know that sometimes they can be sexually aggressive at those certian times.( Mating season ).

The reason this is important to me is because I got my self a darling little African Senegal. We are his third family, so he comes with baggage. I always thought that male birds bonded with women and female birds with men. Well he hates me, he bites and draws blood. But he took one look at my husband and feel in love, my husband can handle him all different ways and that birds doesn't even bite him. He is DNA sexed male so my theory was wrong. I know that he could have a problem with women from he previous homes.

So I want my companion bird, I did research and have fallen in love with the Maximillion Pionus. So what I am trying to do is try to get the least aggressive bird I can. So any advice would be great. Anyone with experience with this breed of parrot.
Are the males more affectionate or the females?
Does one show more aggression during mating season then the other?
And if I do get a female will she lay eggs? or is that only if she has a male?
I think the egg thing was one of the things keeping me from choosing a female. I was worried about her getting egg bound.

Any advice would be great so I can make my decison.

Male or Female Pionus aggression

Hello Holly,

I think you should talk to your breeder about this. I do not have a Pionus and apparently other Pionus owners that might know are not reading your question.
