Yes Yucca plants are safe.

Google safe & toxic plant lists. Some lists are small & some are quite large & very thorough. They will help you to find other safe & toxic plants & foliage.

Ian, Linda here again. I went and read our safe and unsafe list, and found that Yucca is on the safe lists for wood AND plant leaves. I'm sorry to have misled you, and I've always kept my birds away from all succulents regardless. So, I wouldn't allow your bird to eat the whole plant down or anything, and it looks like it is safe for his room. Thanks for giving me a new learning experience with your question!

Ian, there is a list of safe plants on this site, toxic / non-toxic for birds list , so you may wish to take a look. As for Yucca and the other succulents, they are not to be given to birds because the fluid that is in their leaves is poisonous. So long as your bird does not eat any of the plant in his room, he'll be okay, but it is not safe to have plants near them that are not safe. I don't know if you can get them in the UK or not, but Banana plants are beautiful, have large leaves and are safe for all birds. Be sure and read the list of toxic and safe plants and wood here so you'll know how to proceed in case you cannot find Banana. Now, the fruit of the ornamental Banana plants is not fit to eat, as it is very small and very bitter, so bird would not need to eat that.

Thanks for writing and have a great weekend!

Linda
