Sick budgie needs avian vet
by: The Avian Vet

Your budgie has a nasal discharge which indicates there is likely a sinus infection. You need to take your bird in for blood work and cultures. He likely needs antibiotics. Do not buy antibiotics at the pet store; these do not work and will make things worse.

area above nostral - what is it??
by: Linda

This could be an injury site that will become infected if not treated by an Avian Vet in your area. It could also be an abscess or tumor, so you will have to have an Avian Vet diagnose and treat it whatever it turns out to be. Make sure you have no loose wires of any kind in bird's cage that this means anything toys are hung from as well. Also make sure your bird's wings are trimmed appropriately if he is allowed to fly all over the house because this is dangerous for birds.

Thanks for writing and let us know what the avian vet has to say about it.
