Barb - lethargic parrot

We have a red bellied parrot who is in 70 degree house all the time. This morning my husband opened the door and he flew out of the house into 30 degree wheather. It took us about 45 minutes to find her and get her back in the house. Since this experience she is very lethargic and is spending a lot of time sleeping. Should we be worried that it was too cold for her outside and she is getting sick?

It is impossible for Dr B or anyone to tell you if your bird is for sure getting sick, but sleeping more than normal is alarming.

If by the time you read this, your bird is sleeping and not acting normal, then please make an appointment with an avian vet.

It is possible that your bird is just exhausted from the stress. Congratulations on getting your bird back! So many people never see their bird again.
