bare spots under wings

Yes, but is is not usually noticeable unless your bird is wet from a bath or flapping and stretching long enough to get a good look. There are diseases and problems that will cause bare spots to be larger than normal, so I recommend that you have your bird examined by an avian veterinarian to be sure if this is nor normal or not.

There should not be any bare spots anywhere on your bird. There is more of the down feathers underneath the wings, but bird should be covered. Please take him to an Avian Vet to have him checked for infections and/or parasites which can cause this problem. Feather plucking can also cause this to happen, and if the location is where he can get to, then he may be plucking himself. Feather plucking is a very complicated problem, so you will need to consult with an Avian Vet about it to rule out physical causes.

Let us know what vet had to say and if he is healthy otherwise or not.

Linda
