Thanks for all your responses, i have taken her to a vet, already. As i am a manager for petstore, and know how sensitive they are. She is in great health and passed with flying colors. And boy is she a riot... lol her little personalty is something. She is definetly a cuddler. LOVES, LOVES, LOVES to be held, and cuddle.

Nothing to worry about
by: Anonymous

It's very common for all parrots to rub their beaks after eating or playing or chewing toys & wood. They're cleaning, buffing & keeping their beak in good shape.

I have blue front amazons, both of them do that when they are done eating. I think they do it to clean the food off of their beaks. After they rub their beaks they say ha-ha and go about their business. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Beak rubbing

She is cleaning her beak of food or dirt residue, and this is normal behavior. "The world is their napkin", and they always keep their beaks clean.

I would strongly suggest you take your new bird to an Avian Vet in your area if you have not already done so. Most birds bought in pets stores and a lot of the ones coming from breeders are already sick with some kind of infection. Add the stress of getting used to a new home and family to that, and they all need a checkup at the beginning so you know they are healthy. As infections/parasites get more of a hold on them, it becomes very difficult to get them back to health. Once birds go down, it can take up to a year or more to bring them back from an illness.

So, all new birds need to be seen by an Avian Vet as soon as is possible.

Thanks for writing,
Linda
