beak spot, soiled feathers on vent

by Martin
(Buffalo, NY)

My parakeet has a spot on her beak and droppings around vent. Otherwise seems fine. Always has been less active than the second bird.

Sick Bird
by: Linda

Martin, your bird has a bacterial infection and needs to see an Avian Vet immediately. The soiled vent is the first sign of an infection, and it will get worse until it kills your bird.

Please take bird to an Avian Vet in your area so they can diagnose and treat his infection.

Soild vent feathers
by: Tracie

Dr B can not help, because he would need to examine your bird in person. Please take your bird to an avian vet soon. Soiled vent feathers is not a good sign.

Let us know what you find out.
