Ben our young Eclectus Parrot - So, so sweet

by susan saleeby

I have an Eclectus parrot one and a half
years of age.

He gets an extremely good diet veges, fruits
and high quality pellets.

Ben gets a spraying every day, and a full
bath twice a week. He scratches himself
and pulls some of his pin feathers out.
He is still a beautiful bird; however, I
want to solve his problem. He has a
huge cage, and he shares a room with Peaches,a cute White Bellied Caique. Ben
and Peaches are true friends.

What am I doing wrong to cause Ben to
scratch a patch of his beautiful green
feathers out only to leave his down feathers?

Thank you for your attention.

Eclectus plucking
by: Tracie

Have you taken your bird to an avian vet for a check up? Sometimes there is a health problem that is the issue behind the feather loss.

Please read our articles on feather plucking and feather destruction on our Parrot Training page.

I hope things get worked out for your beautiful bird soon.
