b&g macaw

I came home from work today and my blue and gold macaw is abnormally quiet. Normally he wants out of the cage to walk around; today, he eventually came out after some coaxing, but went back in within a few minutes. He's being abnormally quiet, and I can hear a low moaning when I pet his head. He is molting. He's eating some grapes and nuts, and drinking water. I'm concerned because he's not acting like himself.

B&G macaw being quiet

Birds hide their illness usually for a while before we know they are sick. Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.

Thanks for writing so that you can get your bird help. It could be it ate something toxic, breathed something toxic, has a disease or illness or numerous other things.

I am hoping you feed your bird a high quality pellet for 80% of it's diet. Diet is soooo important.
