Bird cage needs grate

I bought a used 40 x 30 bird cage but the bottom grate to separate the bird from removable bottom and standing in their own poo is gone. Does any one know of a p,ace where I can buy that bottom grate?

Sometimes you can find them at places who make cages like for rabbits and other small animals including birds. So, start with a feed store and see if they know of someone who can make you a grate for your cage. You can also look on the internet for welded wire cagemakers who will be able to make your grate. Make sure they know the size of your bird. Hole size depends on what kind of bird you have. In other words, a grate that has 1" by 1" hardware cloth will not work for a small bird. Grate size has to be sized so toes and feet cannot go through and break a toe or foot/leg. It also has to be big enough so poop will actually fall to the bottom of the cage though there is always some left around grate wire. Just tell whoever is making it for you size/species of your bird, so they know how close together wire should be.

You will need to get one made because ready-made ones are for standardized cages and are not usually sold separately from the cages.

Thanks for writing,
Linda

I would check your local pet stores and if they don't sell them, they should be able to tell you where you can get one. Also there are a lot of pet supply websites that you can order from.
