Bird Died, worries about partner

I have a cockatiel that just passed away, and I was worried about his partner. Would it be best to give his living partner more human attention than he was all ready getting to make up for the lack of his bird partner, or should we look into buying another cockatiel for him to bond with.

Getting another bird

I am a firm believer that birds need the company of other birds. However, putting another bird with the survivor may not be the best idea. You can always keep them in separate cages and side-by-side, then allow them access to each other outside of the cage under supervision. Birds are very territorial and there is no guarantee that they will accept each other. Keeping them next to each other will provide them companionship and not invade territories.
