bird loosing feathers

I have a 13 yr old Alexandria parrot and hes starting to loose feathers on top front
of his forehead just above his beak. why?

It could be any number of things, and there is no way to tell over the internet, sorry. It could be mites, but if your birds are kept indoors that is less likely. It could be an allergy or an infection, or a nutritional issue.

It could be that your bird rubs this area on the bars, but then again this could indicate it is itchy and has one of the above issues.

If you feed your bird chemical laden colored pellets, a seed only diet, or non-organic food, then start by changing the diet to a high quality pellet like Harrison's or Roudybush pellets.
