 Keep bird from picking on injury

The only thing I can think of is spraying FOOEY Bitter Spray on the stump in hopes that he will not like the taste.

If the wound has not healed, you need to take the bird to an avian vet. A bird can die from an infection. It is easier to prevent than to heal an infection in birds.
