My canary's nails are very long. How do I trim them?

 Trimming bird's long nails

You need to Find an Avian Vet or a breeder that is very experienced in trimming the nails the first couple of times.

They can show you how to file the nails if they need trimming again, but if you provide natural wood branches or or a Pedicure Perch to keep the nails trimmed.

You have to be very careful, because they have a blood supply. If you cut them too short, the bird may bleed to death quickly.
