bird not himself

by cherie
(new zealand)

Our rainbow lorikeet is usually very very vocal, social and mischievious but lately he had been very quiet and sits with his feathers ruffled and his head under his wing. He still has a good apettite and has moments where he is happy to be with human contact but not for long and likes to nuzzle in our hair or under the collars of our clothing.

His droppings are frequent and are yellow and white in colour. He is kept inside while we are at work but we hang his cage in the cherry tree on fine warm days. He is able to roam freely while we are around.

He always has fresh food and his water is changed regularly. His cage is changed daily as well.
Thanks for any assistance you can give.

Bird not himself

Dr B can not help, because he can not examine your bird. You need to take your bird to see an avian vet to find out what is going on.

Let us know how it goes.
