Bird screaming after dog died
by: Anonymous

Birds are very smart and yours knows a member of the family is missing and it's calling out for it. As time passes, your bird will accept the fact that the dog will not be back. A couple of years ago I had to put my cat down, and even though they were not friends, my bird always looked for the cat to be there. Time heals all and I am sure you are missing your beloved doggy as well.

The bird may be trying to call it's "flock member" wanting the dog to return. Your bird will eventually accept the dog is gone and will calm down.

If you get another pet, the bird may scream again until it accepts the new flock member. ;-)

Keep an eye on the bird to make sure it is eating properly and acting normal otherwise. If you notice the feces have changed, the bird fluffing up and just sitting around then take the bird to your avian vet. Sometimes screaming is a way of telling the owner it doesn't feel well, but I suspect it is calling out for it's friend to come back.

(hugs) on the loss of your beloved pet.
