bird turning head and looking as if she will bite but doesn't

When we take her up and down the stairs she turns her head and sometimes nips, it does not hurt, but at the time she almost seems confused.

What does this mean?

She is otherwise adorable.

first of all, why are you taking her up and down stairs? If this is something you do all the time, there should be no confusion for the bird. If you are keeping your bird away from family and just bringing her upstairs every once in a while, she is confused as to why she is being neglected.

So, you will need to clarify your bird's home life to us before we can answer question.

Amazons do the nip and not bite thing when they are warning us they do not like something. If this is what she is doing, you will eventually get bit and very hard at that. Amazons are good about warning before biting, so you are being warned about something?

Let us know more and thanks for writing,
