Found a blind, newborn nestling after a storm. No nest. To drive to vet or rescue probably polluted more air than worth it, so raised at home on mealworms and cat food ground with mortar & pestle and a dropper. Developed a lame leg second week before fledging, literally overnight. Took her to rescue (since she survived this long) who gave me vitamin-enriched food and recommended dappled morning and evening sunlight for vitamin D deficiency. Happy to say the leg is coming back. Hope to release next week where her mates can teach her to eat.

Bird with lame leg by: Linda
If your bird shows any signs of illness or injury, you have to take it to be examined by an Avian Vet ONLY. Only Avian Vets are licensed to diagnose and treat birds, so find one in your area and have your bird's leg examined. To delay could mean your bird loses it leg and its life, so do this quickly.
