Bird's beak changing color
by: Tracie

If your bird is young, it could just be maturing. There are so many mutations of cockatiels, that random odd feathers and variations of dark patches on beaks happens. However....

If your bird is an older bird, and this is a new issue, you should have your bird checked out by an avian vet. It could be a nutritional issue, a disease or even something in your environment.

Your bird should be eating about 80% high quality pellets and only 20% seeds or treats. Because you have a female, she could start laying eggs too, and our avian vet says that birds eating Harrison's pellets never get egg bound.

Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.
