Birds beak white around edges of beak

I have a sun conure that is about 10 months old. His beak is turning white around the edges. is this bad? and also he is molting i believe. He has pinfeathers in his head feathers and he's losing alot of his feathers. is it normal for them to be very cranky?

Molting is a stressful time for birds, but they do not usually get too cranky. The white around edges of beak is of concern, and you will need to take your bird to be examined by an Avian Vet in your driving area.

All new birds have to visit an avian vet within the first few days or week of coming home because most all pet store and some breeder's birds have infections from the stress of being moved around and being put with other birds in pet stores. They can also contract bacterial infections from exposure to humans who have a cold or just ones who have dirty hands when they handle the bird.

It would be a good idea to make appointment with avian vet to make sure all is well physically and this will include basic bloodwork to make sure no viral infections or other physical issues are present. We recommend yearly visits to avian vets to make sure birds are not experiencing physical issues that has gone unnoticed.
