You are going to need to separate your birds and put one of them into another cage with food, water, perches and toys. This behavior MAY be related to breeding, and it may not be. Budgies are very aggressive little birds, and she can and will eventually hurt the male. If he is running from her, it's just a matter of time before she attacks him, and if the attack is vicious enough, he will be killed.

So, take the male out and set him up in another cage for the time being. It would also be a very good idea to have both of them checked out by an Avian Vet to see if there are physical problems here. The female may be of breeding age, and the male too young--your vet can rule out physical causes and estimate ages of both birds.

It is important you take this warning seriously because both the Budgies and the Lovebirds will kill mates at will. Don't take a chance on this happening to your sweet little male.
