Black lump

Just noticed our lovebird has a black lump under her wing. She is only 8 months old and it doesn't seem to hurt her much? What should we do?

Took her to a vet. They said it could be a tumor but while waiting for the results it is going away. The black is turning back to it's normal color. I'm hoping it was just a bruise. But she has genetic problems as it is being partially blind. We are hoping for the best results. Thank you for your help!

Make an appointment and take your bird into an Avian Vet in your driving area.

This could be an infection, a tumor or something else, so in order to find out what it is and treat it, you have to take your bird to a trained bird vet.

Just because your bird does not seem to be bothered right now with this, does not mean you can ignore it. We will always suggest you take your bird to an Avian Vet if it is sick or has growths or blood coming out any orafices. To do anything else would be neglect on our parts as we CARE about all these birds whether they live in our home or yours.

So take bird into see an Avian Vet as soon as you can. They will take a sample of it and see what it is and give you medicine to treat it or offer you other alternatives. Do not wait until your bird is suffering to do this. Birds and ALL pets are like our children in that we are 100% responsible for their health and well-being and will be held accountable for neglect in any form.

Thanks for writing, and let us know what vet has to say about this. Many Blessings to you and your Family!
