Problems with skin and feathers is usually diet related. Unless he is eating 80-85% organic high quality pellets like Harrison's found here, he is not being fed properly. Birds eat what they're given, even if it is low quality food just to stay alive. Do not feed the junk food you find in most pet stores which consists of Zu-Preem which is basically a chemical soup of harmful product for your bird. Lafaeber's is not any better, and you won't find organic pellets in most pet stores as their shelf life is not as long as the junk full of chemical preservatives.

Your bird also needs to be examined by an Avian Vet before any dietary changes because there could be a physical cause for this problem. Do not delay taking him to the Avian Vet.

Here is a link to an article written by Avian Vet on how to go about changing from seeds to organic pellets, and it takes time and patience, so read the article and start the process after your bird has been cleared or treated by Avian Vet:

Thanks for writing and let us know how everything is going for you. You can find organic pellets here when you're ready to start with the change-over.
