blood in urine from egg laying parrot

by Susie K
(Southern California)

My parrot (yellow nape) has layed 2 eggs and her urine/feces seems to have possibly a bit of blood in it...should I get her to a vet immediately, or is this normal, or should I have her seen tomorrow?

You need to have her seen immediately.

You should take your bird to an avian vet, because Dr B may not answer for days and your bird may have a serious problem. I am not even sure Dr B could tell you what is wrong without examining your bird anyway.

Find an Avian Vet

I do know that Dr B suggests that birds eat a diet with 80% Harrison's pellets and only 20% healthy treats. He has never seen a case of egg binding in birds on Harrison's pellets.
