Hi, I would not leave this too long before getting a vet to check it out. An infection can set in very quickly! Best of luck

This sounds like an infection which has been made worse by him scratching it. You'll need to take your bird to an Avian Vet in your area so they can examine him and find out what is wrong so it can be treated. Use NO over the counter meds or home remedies because until problem is diagnosed by a licensed and trained avian vet, you won't know how to treat it. We recommend that birds be diagnosed and treated by Avian Vets only because this way, they don't get doses of dangerous meds that are not going to do anything except make matters worse.

Do not wait on taking him in because this will only get worse, and he may even permanently damage his eye when scratching this area.

Let us know what avian vet has to say and thanks for writing,
Linda
